Some weddings are worth waiting for, and Spencer and Kristen Davis’s was absolutely one of them! I had been counting down to this day for what felt like forever, and when it finally arrived, it was every bit as beautiful and joyful as I had imagined. We started upstairs in the Getting Ready Loft at Red Cedar Farms, and honestly, it felt like an all-girls sleepaway camp! You could hear the laughter and giggles from downstairs, and I absolutely LOVE the sounds of a wedding day. We captured some sweet PJ and robe photos before Kristen’s mom helped button up her wedding dress. Kristen is a total natural beauty, and as a hair and makeup artist herself, she looked absolutely incredible! While the girls finished getting ready, I headed over to the guys, who were already having a blast. These portraits were a breeze, and they looked seriously GQ! Since Spencer is a race car driver, we absolutely had to incorporate some sunglasses into the mix. Once the guys were tucked away with strict instructions not to peek, it was time for the girls! Bridal party portraits are some of my favorites. We fluffed dresses, twirled, hugged, and laughed together in the most gorgeous October sunshine. North Carolina in the fall is pure magic, with beautiful scenery, golden light, and those perfect fluffy “Toy Story” clouds. Kristen and her girls looked like they had stepped straight out of a fall fairytale!
Then it was time for the ceremony! Spencer and Kristen exchanged vows overlooking the beautiful fields at Red Cedar Farms in Granite Falls, North Carolina, beneath a bright blue sky filled with those dreamy clouds. Everything felt so lovely and full of love, and when the two finally kissed, their guests erupted in cheers! These are the moments I love most about being a North Carolina wedding photographer. Beyond the beautiful scenery and all the thoughtful details, it is about the emotion, the people, and the feeling of witnessing two people begin their forever together.
A Mr. Davis Moment in the North Carolina Countryside
If you know me, you know how much I adore couple portraits. This is where we get to slow things down, let the newlyweds be together, and create photographs that feel romantic, emotional, and a little bit like a movie.
And Spencer and Kristen absolutely understood the assignment!
Kristen's dad mentioned that he had brought his drone, and naturally, I said, LET'S GET THAT BAD BOY UP IN THE AIR!
We headed out into those gorgeous open fields, and the magic just kept happening. Spencer and Kristen ran through the grass, he scooped her up and carried her, they twirled together, and they soaked up those first moments of being husband and wife.
At one point, I swear we had a full-on Mr. Davis moment! And if you're a Pride and Prejudice fan, you know EXACTLY what I mean. 😂❤️ Think sweeping countryside, romantic glances, a little Jane Austen energy, and the kind of love story that makes you want to watch it over and over again. Move over, Mr. Darcy. There's a new leading man in town, and his name is Mr. Davis!
The golden light wrapped around them, the fields stretched out in every direction, and for a little while, it felt like the rest of the world had disappeared.
These are the moments I live for as a North Carolina wedding photographer. Not just the perfectly posed photographs, but the in-between moments, the laughter, the way he looks at her when she is not paying attention, and the way two people move together when they finally get a moment alone.
Spencer and Kristen made it so easy. Their love was joyful, playful, and completely their own. I could have photographed them in those fields all afternoon!
Cake, Sweet Tributes & Dancing the Night Away
After all the excitement of the day, it was time for cake, dancing, and celebrating the newlyweds! One of the sweetest moments was the bouquet dedication to Kristen’s mother, a beautiful reminder that weddings are about so much more than one day. They are about family, the people who shape our lives, and the love we carry with us into every new chapter. The rest of the evening was filled with laughter, happy memories, and a dance floor full of celebration. After waiting so long for this day, Spencer and Kristen finally got to relax, soak it all in, and simply enjoy being husband and wife!
Kristen, You Have the Kindest Heart
As beautiful as Kristen looked on her wedding day, what stands out to me most is her heart. She is genuinely one of the kindest people, with a warmth that makes talking to her feel like chatting with Mother Teresa herself! She has that rare ability to make people feel comfortable and cared for, and it is such a beautiful thing to witness. Spencer, you are one lucky man to call her your wife! Between their sweet dogs, life at the racetrack, and all the adventures ahead, I know these two have so much happiness waiting for them.

I had been looking forward to Spencer and Kristen’s wedding for what felt like forever, and getting to be part of it was worth every second of the wait.
